Tristram Shandy: A Cock and Bull Story

I was going to go bite the bullet and waste my time with Pirates of the Caribbean last night, but instead I decided to go rent Tristram Shandy: A Cock and Bull Story. I'd been meaning to see it for quite some time, it was playing up at the Broadway, but I never got a chance to go see it.

Anyhow, it was actually really good. They attempted to film a novel that is, as the movie puts it, essentially unfilmable and they succeeded. The film would not have been succesful at all had Steve Coogan not been as charismatic as he was though. The film was hilarious and felt as unscripted as a Christopher Guest picture.

It's hard to write anything about the movie because it was intentionally a structural jumble to match the chaos of the novel, but suffice to say, it would be worth your time.

It's very funny and it's a very smart sort of funny.

It was certainly a better use of my time than getting dragged to see that Pirate movie.

PoTC: DMD is a good movie.

Cant you just have fun?

It's just entertainment.

You dont need to be a movie snob all the time.

I like being a movie snob. Also I heard it was a boring 2 1/2 hour trailer for the third movie.

I didn't like the first one, so that's a black mark against it as it is. Also, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightly (although she's thoroughly attractive) couldn't act their way out of paper bags.

I can admit when I like entertainment. MI:III was "just entertainment" it certainly wasn't a good movie but I liked it. I don't know if Superman was good or not but I loved it.

The last pirates movie was just boring. Why would this one be any different?

I liked pirates too but Tristram Shandy was a great movie, much better than pirates was.
