CHENEY TO CHILL WITH MORMON LEADERS

The mouth piece for Jesus Christ and a warmonger: Just hanging out.

Word-for-word reprint from The Salt Lake Tribune:
Vice President Dick Cheney will make a courtesy visit to leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints before giving the commencement address at Brigham Young University Thursday.

Cheney, whose visit has prompted protests and counter protests at the Provo school, will fly in and out of the state within a few hours, but, like most national leaders in town for a day, will drop by LDS Church headquarters in Salt Lake City to visit with President Gordon B. Hinckley and his top two counselors, church officials confirmed Monday.

Cheney is then scheduled to speak to BYU graduates before flying out of the state. Cheney's office declined to release further details of the trip Monday and a BYU spokeswoman said only that more information would be forthcoming Tuesday.

LDS Church spokesman Scott Trotter said Monday one person of the three-member First Presidency also will attend the commencement address.

It's traditional for leading politicians to make a courtesy call to the LDS Church's leaders when visiting the state. President Bush met with leaders during a visit last August as he has previously during stopovers in Utah.
So, there you go. Dick Cheney, war-lord, war-profiteer, and war-monger will be sharing friendly company with the Earthly Representatives of Jesus Christ, Lord and Savior.

Sorry to speak of the topic here, but I just noticed that the commencement is now more than fully funded.

Most excellent. I am sure that it is something that those involved will carry with them the rest of their lives.

I must admit, I am disappointed in the students at BYU who are involved in such a protest. I am not saying that I agree with the choices that Dick Cheney has made, but protesting in invitation to any individual because of some bad choices is completely the opposite of the doctrine taught in the church. How unChrist-like many of you are acting who have a testimony of this church. Maybe you don't. It just saddens me to see a group of people who have so much, who have access to complete doctrine and the powers of the priesthood and yet, do so little. I know many people of other religions who lack such knowledge and do so much more. For those of you involved, just remember in the midst of all this publicity and your flashy protest, Christ taught "They shall have their reward."

Yeah, God forbid that they think for themselves instead of towing church doctrine.

I can't believe people still buy into this "warmonger" garbage. Is your hatred so brilliant, that you believe the slanted, biased and conspiratorial rantings of the left and feel you must repeat the rhetoric on your pseudo-witty blog?

The arguments used by the left to vilify the Bush administration are nothing new, my lost friend. They are the same old, tired, worn-out remarks based on hate that have been infecting our college campuses for the past 100 years.

Did you know FDR was a warmonger? Kennedy, too. Oh, and don't forget ancient warmongers, like Moses, Moroni and George Washington. Because, based on the lies promulgated by the left, they all qualify, too.

One day, in about 15 years, you'll think back to this post and laugh at your youthful hatred that led you to be so misguided. Either that, or you'll be so consumed by hate for your religion, your country and your family that you'll be irreconcilably miserable.

FDR was a warmonger? Prove it.

And Kennedy? Are you serious? The guy avoided more war than anyone. That's why he was killed. So, prove it.

Moses? What war did he fight in?

Moroni? Isn't he just a figment of your imagination?

And Washington? Did he really fight his war to profit financially and politically? I think I remember his war being about independence.

Dick Cheney is a war monger. And you know I'm right.

Actually, Steve, FDR was called out as a warmonger. After WWI, Americans felt that the US should remain strict isolationists and avoid participation in any European wars. In the months leading up to Pearl Harbor, a lot of Americans viewed things like the Lend-Lease act as indirect war-mongering on the part of the Roosevelt Administration. After Pearl Harbor was attacked, most Americans wanted blood, but there was still a small minority of people who said it was all a ploy on FDR's part to get into the war because he was thirsty for it.

I'm not sure about the historical context for the others, but I thought I'd chime in here because I happened to know that one off the top of my head.

Bryan,

So FDR was called a warmonger? But you're saying he actually wasn't? Or are you saying that he was?

Cuz I remember John Kerry being called out as a coward in 2004 cuz he didn't bleed as much as he said he did in Vietnam.

But that doesn't necessarily make it fucking so.

And as for "I'm not sure about the historical context for the others...": As soon as you find some context for Moses and Moroni, you let me know.

I'm not saying I think he was or not, I think it was Anonymous Cowards point is that he, too, was called out as a warmonger.

And as a recovering Catholic, you know that I would think Moroni is a figment of the imagination and so people could believe him to be whatever they wanted.

As for the others, I don't know if they were called warmongers or not. My point was that I happen to know that FDR was called a warmonger.

FDR and Cheney have both been called warmongers.

Other than that, do you see any difference between these men?
